Everybody back with another Major Leaguer shorts episode. This episode has a lot of charity games in it by the charity stuff going on over the summer that I want to bring your attention. All right. Let's just get right into it. First off, something I've talked about before on other episodes of the platform, the stuff is thing called the 11 day powerplay. It takes place in Buffalo, New York. June 20th is the start of it this year. And that's what it sounds like. It's an 11 days of hockey. They raise money for cancer research and it's a really great charity for stuff. It's really cool stuff that they do. And it's playing hockey. They I believe they're full up for teams and players at this point, but they do have waitlists for all that stuff. But they are always looking for volunteers. So if you want to get involved in it, check it out. It's 11daypowerplay.com and 11 is just one one. It's not spelled out. But as always and as I always say, links for all this stuff in the show notes and at TheBeerLeaguer.com another great charity that has a game coming up over the summer is something called the Shelter Cup, and that takes place June 15th. So around the same time down in Nashville. It's been going on for a number of years now. And what that is, is it's a charity hockey game for the Nashville area shelters. So really cool thing. You don't sign up for it. It's pretty cheap. Sign up. I think it's 125 bucks. Gets you signed up for a team and get your jersey and stuff And it's a really cool all day event where you know get to play hockey. They have like food and stuff there. They have adoptable pets, which is awesome. And the money goes to the best thing. Money can go to helping out animals. So that's the shelter cup. And they have a Facebook page that they seem to be everything through. I just look up the shelter cup on Facebook and you'll find it. Another great organization is Save Pond Hockey. They are a group that is based out of Finland, and the whole idea of what they do is take the idea of outdoor hockey, pond hockey and use that as a means to help generate and create awareness for climate change. So their premise kind of is if climate change keeps happening, world keeps heating up, not being able to play pond hockey anymore. So it's a really cool idea that's been around now for, I believe, since 2015. And they just had their first U.S. tournament this past weekend. On March 16th, they partnered up with Hard Pass NYC and had an outdoor pond hockey tournament in Central Park, New York. So a really cool thing that happened. And you know, they do a lot of cool stuff. You should check them out, see what kind of stuff they have. If you're not in the U.S., they do have you know, it's the first U.S. thing they've done. So they have a lot of stuff over in Europe. Seems most of them are around Finland. That's where they originated from. But yeah, definitely check them out. SavePondHockey.org and also put a link to the Central Park tournament in the notes as well as check out. And you know what SavePondHockey.org that's going to be the social media account of the week. Check them out They are on social media with all kinds of different stuff. They do a lot of cool things, partnering up with different people and stuff. So you should check them out on all their social media links and see what they're doing. And the last thing that I will mention is this past weekend the PWHL Professional Women's Hockey League played two neutral site games here in the States, one in Detroit and one in Pittsburgh. I actually attended the one in Pittsburgh and I never mentioned the PWHL before. It's awesome hockey to watch it. Seeing it live was super fun. Totally worth the trip to go check it out. So I recommend if you live near any of the cities and you can go check them out. You should there. First season now and their games are getting tons of attendance. I know they're like breaking records. It seems like almost every week for most attendance for a women's game. So people are going, you should go check them out. But also one of the things that I love is their games are streaming on YouTube. So you can watch them from wherever and see it. And it's just good hockey. It's just really good hockey to watch. So, all right, that is all I have for this episode. Anything that I said interest you, please go check out the links in the show notes or at TheBeerLeaguer.com. And as always, any likes, shares or reviews are appreciated because that just gets these episodes out to more and more people. All right, everybody. Thanks a lot. Catch you in the next one.
